Tribute to Paul van Nuland….

We are all mourning  the loss of our friend and co-worker Paul van Nuland. For the past months he had been in treatment but regrettably passed away on May 12 2019 at home with his family. We’ll remember Paul for his quit wit and corny jokes, his fishing stories and  simply a good sense of humour.

Paul van Nuland 300x126 - Tribute to Paul van Nuland....Paul was always the man you wanted on the job. He would tear through work like a whirlwind. His wirey frame was deceiving as he could outwork the best of them. When the job needed doing, and some of them were ugly,  Paul was there to lead the charge and “get ‘er done”.

Paul’s general good nature and readiness to “chew the fat” with the guys on break endeared him to not only his co-workers but all the trades. When he wasn’t hard at work he would be home to his family and when the weather was good, ready to race up to the trailer to feel a large mouth on his line….. Fishing his great passion, after his wife and girls.

Paul was one of those ” Hale and hearty” yeoman, you could rely on when the going got tough. Goodbye old friend you will be sorely missed!!

Changes ( that you need to know about) to the Ontario Construction lien Act … Now the Construction Act!

While building Luxury custom homes and highly efficient  NET ZERO homes is our stock- in- trade at Chatsworth Fine Homes, the list of tools in our “chest” is constantly expanding to keep ahead and current in the ever changing business law 300x243 - Changes ( that you need to know about) to the Ontario Construction lien Act ... Now the Construction Act!construction industry. Two of our team will be attending a seminar as part of the Business Law Summit Series put on by Pallett and Valo, one of Mississauga’s leading Law firms. The seminar covers some of the major changes that are coming into effect this fall. The new “Construction Act” formerly the Construction Lien Act includes provisions for prompt payment, speedy arbitration of disputes, longer lien periods and compulsory payment of  hold backs. These changes were a culmination of a 2015 government report ” Striking the balance”, which provided recommendations after  canvassing, listening and including input from various stakeholders and interests. This overhaul comes after the previous act continued for 35 years with relatively minor changes.

While there isn’t the time to dwell at length in this short blog, needless to say the consequences are thought  by many to be far reaching. ” it will completely change the “bones” of the payment process” says Fil Capuano CEO of Chatsworth Fine Homes.  While we certainly aren’t “lawyers” our teams needs to be aware of the law on a daily basis, providing our clients the comfort of knowing that their home is being built not only with care and attention to detail but to the best fair practices of the law of the land.

With many of our clients, not only their own aspirations are taken into account but potential resale value weighs heavily when planning a new kitchen design. In this article by Chatsworth Fine Homes, we will talk about a few things you should consider when you are thinking about remodelling your kitchen in Burlington. Read on for more information.


Your budget is surely very important to everyone and particularly  important when it comes to keeping a rein on things in a kitchen design. During a remodel, the budget gets pressured on all sides so keeping a keen eye is essential. Set a budget that is comfortable for you, and remember that most realtors suggest it  will likely be recouped upon resale of your home.

NET ZERO measures up!

It’s a while since we blogged about our Net Zero projects, so an update is likely in order! Our project on Westdale Road in Oakville is enjoying good progress. Currently in framing stages, it’s the first home to be registered in Oakville in the National Research Canada’s  Net Zero Ready program.
